Mavis P. Cox, 81, of Hempstead Manor went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at SOMC. Born October 31, 1933 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Richard and Ella Green Gray and attended Candy Run Wesleyan Tabernacle Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Mary Cox of Portsmouth and Darrell and Linda Cox of Lucasville; one daughter and son-in-law, Charotte and Merle Miller of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Emily, Amy, Sarah, Jonathan, Ben and Cari; four great grandchildren, Lainey, Jack, Kylie and Joey-Kate, and one sister, Adrian Jahn of Grove City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Thomas R. Cox; three brothers, Ralph, Paul and Lowell Gray; four sisters, Letha Gray, Lucille Cremeans, Zelma Stropek, and Datha Morton, and one granddaughter, Kristen Cox. The family would like to extend special thanks to Hempstead Manor as well as SOMC Hospice and Southern Ohio Medical Center for their good care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Andy Ramey officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in South Shore, Kentucky. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
