Arthur Edward Lewis, 93, of Minford passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. Born May 1, 1924 in South Webster, a son of the late Arthur Stanton and Gladys (Ruth) Lewis. He had worked for the Piketon Atomic Plant, taught at Portsmouth East School, and was the Principal at Lindsey, North Moreland, and Highland Schools. He was a member Portland Masonic Lodge #366 in Oak Hill, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, and First Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth. Arthur was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran of the 716th Engineer Depot Co. serving in the Rhineland, Normandy, Central Europe, and Northern France campaigns. He was a member of James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion, and a member of VFW 3638 Sciotoville. He is survived by his wife, Janet (Eckhart) Lewis; a daughter, Renee (Doug) Cooper of Dayton; a granddaughter, Cherie North of Dayton; a grandson, Lee Edward North of Dayton; four brothers, David (Eloise) Lewis, James Wendell (Ada) Lewis, Wilbur (Brenda) Lewis, Billy Lewis, a sister, Anna Belle Miller, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Mahoney.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Linda Plummer and Minister Evan Fisher officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in Oak Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday by Portland Masonic Lodge #366. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A.
