Obituary

Burns "Bob" Cordle, 94, of Minford, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 9, 2015 peacefully in his sleep. Born April 25, 1920 in Paintsville, Kentucky, son of the late Wesley and Cora Lemaster Cordle, he lived in Beaver, Ohio during his youth. As an Army veteran of World War II, Burns served in North Africa. Following his military service, he settled in Tacoma, Washington where he enjoyed camping in their Airstream trailer and long walks with his family in nearby Point Defiance Park and across the Narrows Bridge. Burns career included 20 years of service with Western Washington State Hospital as a Boiler Engineer. Burns retired from the Hospital in 1982 when he and Rosie returned home to Ohio. Burns enjoyed attending Rubyville Community Church. He liked American History, steam engines and the architecture of what he called "Big Houses". He enjoyed woodworking, including building several Grandfather Clocks. He had a great sense of humor and most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Wright Cordle, a loving union of 46 years; two sons, Michael (Katherine) Cordle and Patrick (Marsha) Cordle; three grandchildren, Rachel, Kyla and Ami; five great grandchildren; two step daughters and five step sons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammi and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Rubyville Community Church in Rubyville with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans and Pastor Brian Baer officiating. Burial will be at Cordle Cemetery in Beaver, Ohio. Friends may call at the church from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363.
