Cebert Edwin Newsome, 80, of Minford passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. Born January 5, 1936 a son of the late William and Rebecca (Amburgey) Newsome, he was a former employee of Empire Detroit Steel in Portsmouth, former owner of Newsome B.P. Station in Portsmouth, co-founder of Newsome Auto Parts and Auto Sales in Minford, and co-founder of Subway in Minford, Jackson, and Piketon. Cebert was also a U.S. Army Veteran, a board member of Tri-State Bible College in South Point, Ohio, and attended Temple Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Niner) Newsome; a son, Ed Newsome of Minford; a daughter, Robin (Paul) Jones of Franklin Furnace; four grandchildren, Ryan Burnheimer, Kyle Newsome, Kurt Newsome, Taylor Jones; a great-grandchild, Adam Burnheimer; a brother, Troy E. (Audrey) Newsome, and a niece, Toni Patrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Burnheimer, and a sister, Thelma Jean Newsome.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Dr. Rod Niner officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
