David Lee Adkins, 80 of Portsmouth passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born January 25, 1942 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Santford Ray and Fern Howard Adkins, he was a 1961 Valley High School graduate, and was of the Baptist faith. He retired from N&S Railroad where he was known as "Brother Dave". He is survived by his wife, Sandi Fleeman Adkins; two sons, Dave (Jeanie) Adkins, John (Linda) Adkins; ten grandchildren, Miles Adkins, Meghan Mault, Ryan Graham, Amanda Graham, Ashlee Carrico, CJ Adkins, Tanner DeLong, Tristan DeLong, Mykel DeLong, Ethan DeLong; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Danny (Cindy) Adkins, Mick (Rhonda) Adkins, and one sister, Diana King. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Brett McGraw officiating. Burial will be in Lucasville Cemetery.
