David Michael Smith, 65, of Minford, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus. Born October 2, 1951 a son of the late, Owen and Nola (Flannery) Smith, he was the owner and operator of I.G.A. in West Portsmouth and Minford. David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing his love of hunting and fishing with young people. He is survived by his wife, Lucinda "Cindy" (Lauderback) Smith, whom he married on October 27, 1972; a son, Brian (Jamie) Smith of Mason, MI; a daughter, Laura Boldman, of Lucasville; three grandchildren, Austin Willard, Michael Willard and Alyssa Boldman; five brothers, Everett "Dick" Smith, Owen (Barbara) Smith, James Arnold Smith, Jonas (Mary Ann) Smith, John (Jane) Smith, and two sisters, Eloise (Carl) McClurg and Louvena (Phil) Swords. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Haley Jo and Briana Hope Wooten; two brothers, Clarence Oval Smith, Doug Smith, and a sister in infancy Olive Elizabeth Smith. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Rick Ratliff officiating. Burial will be at White Gravel Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
