Obituary

Donald Eugene "Gene" Perry, 72, of Minford, passed over into the arms of his savior on Friday, December 22, 2017. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio to Betty Jean Clark Conaway and the late John Junior Perry on January 22, 1945. Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Margaret Ann "Maggie" Perry, his brother, John Michael Perry and brothers-in-law, Robert Wallace and William Ronald Smith. Gene graduated from Valley High School in 1963. He was employed for 39 years at United State Enrichment Corporation in Piketon, Ohio. He was a veteran of the US Army serving with Co B 26th Sig Bn serving in Germany. He was a member of Charity Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia Ann (Scott) Bloomfield of Pedro; a son, John Edward (Tanya) Perry of Minford;.grandchildren, Morgan Nicole (Aaron) Cooper of Lucasville, Jacob Tyler Perry of Minford and step-granddaughter, Abigail Bloomfield of Pedro. Gene is also survived by a brother, Donald (Barbara) Conaway of Lucasville, sister, Joan Wallace of Victoria, TX and several nieces and nephews. Gene also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Sharon Kay Smith. The family would like to thank the 3rd floor staff at Hillview for the wonderful care Gene received and the nurses at SOMC Hospice for the care and support. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Gary Dheel officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363.
