Edna Mae Conkel, 89, of Portsmouth passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Advanced 360 in Portsmouth. Born January 12, 1929 in Scioto County, a daughter of the late Leonard Maurice and Margaret May Riddlebarger Schomburg, she was a homemaker and a member of Valley Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union. She is survived by one son, Elzie Eugene (Judy) Conkel; six daughters, Wilma Longberry, Gladys Conkel, Patricia Thompson, Curleen Pinson, Darlene Skinner, Linda (Joey) Riley; six grandchildren, Samantha, Chad, Nicholas, Tony, Heather, Jeremy; five great grandchildren, Nora, Charity, Chad, Jr., Jade, Scotty; one brother, Thomas (Marion) Schomburg, and three sisters, Ruth Nichols, Wanda Jarrell, and Theda (Mike) Aldridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wesley Conkel; an infant daughter, Karen Marie Conkel, and two brothers, Maurice Schomburg and Donald Schomburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2018 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Bernard Twinam officiating. Burial will be at Martin Cemetery in Minford.
