Obituary

Edwin Hugh Benner, 82, of Lucasville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Born January 10, 1935 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of the late Roy and Kathleen (Ruby) Benner. Edwin was a graduate of Clay High School in the class of 1953. He worked at Empire Detroit Steel for thirteen years. He retired from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility after twenty years of service. Edwin was a member of Rubyville Community Church. He was a living testimony to his faith in the Lord, a wonderful husband and father and a blessing to all who knew him. Edwin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laura Frances (Lemaster) Benner, whom he married on May 7, 1955. He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Benner of Fairfield; Bradley (Rebecca) Benner of Portsmouth; one granddaughter, Lorrie (Ken) Hopkins of Canal Winchester; two step-grandchildren, Wes (Amanda) McGraw of Glendale, Arizona and Margaret McGraw of Sciotoville; and one great-grandchild, Oliver McGraw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one half-sister, Irene (Benner) Adams. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Rubyville Community Church with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans and Pastor Brian Baer officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
