Fern Adkins, 92, of Minford, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at SOMC Hospice. Born September 26, 1922 in Wrigley, Kentucky, a daughter of the late George and Susie Carter Howard, she was a homemaker and attended Lucasville Church of Christ and Christian Union. She is survived by three sons, David (Sandi) Adkins of Wheelersburg, Danny (Cindy) Adkins of Minford and Mick (Rhonda) Adkins of Minford; one daughter, Diana (Mike) King of Beaver Creek; eight grandchildren, David Adkins, John Adkins, Lisa Wessler, Michael King, Stacey Cottingham, Erica McCain, Sara Bear and Mickey Adkins; 13 great grandchildren, Whitney, Jacob, Mickey Ray, Tate, Miles, Meaghan, C.J., Ashlee, Brady, Ethan, Jessica, Rachel and Melissa; three great great grandchildren, Santford Ray, Caden and Lucas, two step-grandchildren, Sam Gilbert and Clayton Gilbert; two step great grandchildren, Bronson Gilbert and Baillie Gilbert; one step great great grandson, Brenton Gilbert, and a special sister-in-law, Berniece Howard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Santford Ray Adkins on December 19, 2005 whom she married December 21, 1940; four brothers, Emil, Bernice, Elmer & Boyd, and eight sisters, Nellie, Stella, Dell, Eunice, Myrtle, Allie, Ezma, Jean and Lorene. Funeral services will be conducted at Noon Friday, September 4, 2015 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Stephen Curry officiating. Burial will be in Lucasville Cemetery in Lucasville. Friends may call from 10:00 to Noon Friday prior to the service.
