Garnet Mae King, 92, of Minford, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Heartland of Portsmouth. Born April 20, 1924 in Kentucky, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Laura (Prince) Perkins. She was a homemaker, owned and operated Bowen's Grocery on St. Rt. 139 and attended Charity Freewill Baptist. She is survived by five sons, Ronald Eugene King, Earnest Elwood (Millie) King, Vernon Ray (Barbara) King, Alvin Lee (Mary) King, Jeffery Lane (Sheila) King; Twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren and two brothers William Sherman Perkins, and Ralph Edward Perkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earnest E. King, Sr.; second husband, Hermie "Buddy" Bowen; one son Larry Allen King; one daughter, Ester Darlene Giles; two brothers, Michael Dean Perkns, James Clifford Perkins, and two sisters, Edna Eileen King and Delores Marie Perkins.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Dheel officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
