Obituary

Gay Kirk, 78, of Mary Esther, Florida, formerly of Minford, passed away November 10, 2015 after a sudden illness in Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Gay was born in Boyd County, Kentucky to the late Noble and Dovie (Borders) Kirk. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife of 54 years, Betty Hickman Kirk, son Michael G. Kirk (Lynn), daughter Dawnell Kirk Claessen (Paul), granddaughter Laurilee Osorio, great-grandson Jackson Osorio all of Florida. Two brothers, Donald C. Kirk (Yvonne) and Andrew Kirk (Lois) of Ashland and Catlettsburg, Kentucky, also three nieces, three nephews, two step-grandsons and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Anna Lou Kirk May (William). Gay served in the Navy during the Korean War. Throughout his lifetime, he was a farmer, Deputy Sheriff, business owner, and Engineer on the Norfolk and Southern Railroad until his retirement in 1989, then he moved to Mary Esther, Florida. Gay was a long time member of James Irwin Post 662 American Legion of Minford, Ohio. Memorial Services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Friends may call from noon-1:00 p.m. before the service Saturday. Burial will be at Wheeler Cemetery on Blue Run Road. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363.
