Gerald James Speights, 81, of Lucasville, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Heartland of Portsmouth. Born April 19, 1936 in Alamar, North Carolina, he was a heavy equipment operator for Scioto County. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, attended Community Bible Church, an Army Veteran and was an avid hunter. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Griffith) Speights; two daughters, Kim Page and Jackie Speights; two sons, Randy Vanvalkinburg and Dudley Speights and a grandson Jason Hannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Gene Speights. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with Pastor Joe Nelson officiating.
