Obituary

Grace M. Burns, 76, of Portsmouth, a former Clarktown resident, died Friday, August 28, 2015 at Hempstead Manor in Portsmouth. Born April 14, 1939 in Ross County, Ohio, a daughter of the late George W. and Gladys M. (Garlinger) Horsley and the late James W. Hawke, she has worked as a nursing assistant for Scioto Memorial Hospital and in the deli department for the former Evan's Supermarket in Clarktown. She was a huge Ohio State Buckeye, Cincinnati Bengal and Reds fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean E. Burns, on July 2, 1993; a son, Scott C. Burns; a daughter, Marilyn S. Aldridge; a brother, George E. Horsley, and a sister, Phyllis J. Gulley. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and David Beck of Wichita Falls, Texas, Ruth and Tim Boggs, of Gallipolis, Ohio; two brothers, Ray (Leah) Horsley and LaRue Horsley, both of Lucasville; 8 grandchildren, Janie, Ginger, Brandy, Brian, Lynette, Kendra, Christopher, Donny; 16 great grandchildren, Josh, Jessie, Sammi, Mayla, Miriah, Lexi, Christopher, Rilyn, Daisy, Miles, Matthew, Willow, Benjamin, Jared, Kiera, Lydia; one great-great-grand-grandson, Avery, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Tim Palla officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
