Harry C. James, 85, of Minford, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at SOMC Hospice. Born September 28, 1929 in McDermott, a son of the late Handsford and Oakie Howard James, he was receiving manager for the former Harts Department Store in Rosemount. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Lucasville Masonic Lodge No. 465, and was a member of Berean Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Betty James; two daughters, Sandra (Kevin) Bourne of Ironton, Lawana (Paul) Whitt of Portsmouth; a special son, Brian (Barb) Setser of Minford; ten grandchildren, Angela Sturgill, Darrell Dixon, Kristen (Rich) Lewis, Tommy James, Mashell James, Jennifer James, David James, Brandi James, Phillip (Melanie) Setser, Allison Setser; two brothers, Harold James, William James; and four sisters, Norma Vaughn, Jackie Evans, Louise Joseph, and Debbie Maese. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Thomas James and Orville David James; a brother, Wade James; and three sisters, Mary Ann Loper, Jenny James, and Patty Gabbard.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Tim Goodwin officiating. Burial will be at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic Services will be conducted by Lucasville Masonic Lodge No. 465 at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside Military rites will be conducted by James Erwin Post 622 and William Baker Post 363.
