Hildreth Horton "Jack" Maddox, Jr ., 84 of Franklin Furnace passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at his residence. He was born March 29, 1938 in Morehead, Kentucky, a son of the late H. Horton and Stella Oliver Maddox and was a 1956 graduate of Green High School. After high school Jack drove a ready mix truck and attended Barber School. He was a barber in Franklin Furnace, drove a school bus for Green Schools, and worked for Schwerman Trucking in the summer. He was a former employee for Ford Brothers, Rogers in Haverhill, laborer at Aristech, and was a pipefitter. Jack owned and operated a Semi truck and retired from driving in 2002. He was a Mason for 51 years and a member of Western Sun No. 91. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Hutchinson Maddox; his children, Kelly (Glenn) Graff, Doug (Cindy) Maddox, Keri (Aaron) Kouns; grandchildren, Ashlee Graff, Westley & Andrew Mabry, Corey & Hannah Hamby, Kaitlyn Maddox, Wyatt Maddox, Jackson, Karley & Luke Kouns; great grandchildren, Tristan and Caidence Kerns, Josie, Waylon, Weston Mays, Devon, Paul, Maddox Mabry, Leigh and Colton Hamby, and Grayson Maddox; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris Jolene & Bill Demoss, LoVenia & Mick Casto; sister-in-law, Mary Maddox, and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Paul Maddox. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Roger Lavender officiating. Burial will be in Haverhill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Masonic services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday by Western Sun Lodge No. 91.
