Irene Dyer beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and sister, passed away on October 10 2026, following a brief illness that left her unable to continue living independently. She was 91 years old.
Born on September 23, 1935 in Letcher County Kentucky. Irene lived a long and meaningful life centered around d her family, her home and the things she loved most.
On April 14, 1951 she married the love of her life, Eugene Dyer, who proceeded her in death. Together they built a life and family that would become her greatest legacy. After Gene passed away, Irene continued to live on her own, demonstrating the strength, determination, and independence that were such a big part of who she was. She remained in her home by herself until just three weeks before her passing. A testament to her strong spirit and her desire to maintain her independence.
Above all else, Irene loved her family with all her heart. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and the love she had for them was immeasurable. Her family was the center of her world, and the memories they created together will be treasured for generations to come.
Irene also had a special passion for her flowers and her yard. She took great pride in caring for her home and making her surroundings beautiful. Her love of gardening reflected the care and attention she gave to the things that mattered most to her. The beauty she cultivated in her yard was just one of the many ways she left her mark on the world around her.
Irene is survived by her three children: Debby (Chris) Hudson of Eagle River Alaska, Diana Evans of Minford, and Kenny (Christa) Dyer of Minford; six grandchildren Kelly (Phillip)Hawk, Damon Kirsch, Chris (Kyra)Hudson, Regena Bussdieker, Brittani Dyer, Kendall (Justine) Dyer; thirteen great grandchildren, one of whom proceeded her in death; eight great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Alma Faye Herron.
In addition to her husband, Eugene, Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas “Boots” and Virgie Sexton; three brothers, Elmer ”Buddy”, Jack Sexton and Donald Sexton; her two sisters Geraldine Garrett and Anna Mae Cook; her two sons-in-law, Gary Kirsch and Jeff Evans.
Irene’s passing leaves a space in the hearts of her family that can never truly be filled. Her strength, independence, love for her family and the life she built will never be forgotten. Though her family must now learn to navigate life without her physical presence, they will forever carry her love in their hearts and find comfort in the memories she leaves behind.
Her hands may no longer tend to her flowers, but the love she planted in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, and generations beyond will continue to grow for years to come.
Rest easy Momma. You have earned your rest. Your love will live on in every generation that follows you.
