Jacob Thomas Prater, 31 of New Albany, a former Minford area resident, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital in Columbus. He was born June 30, 1992 in Huntington, WV, a son of Dennis (Kristen) Prater and Laura (Benjamin) Wiget, and was a journeyman carpenter for Local #200 Columbus.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his precious daughter, Ella Prater; fiancé, Lauren Hambrick; three brothers, Nathanael (Brittany) Prater, Aaron (Holli) Prater, Ty Wiget; two sisters, Kennedy Prater, Zoe Wiget; two nieces, Sophie Prater, Emeri Prater; his grandmother, Julia Norris, and his aunt, Susan Norris. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Virginia Prater, and Dick Norris.

A private graveside service will be held at Prater Family Cemetery in South Point. Arrangements were under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
