James R. "Red" Lunsford, 76, of Portsmouth, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Born February 21, 1939 in Scioto County, a son of the late James R. Lunsford and Berniece Lunsford Craft, he was retired from Elgin-Joliet-Eastern Railways in Chicago Illinois. He was a member of New Boston F.O.E. #2271, Local Order of Moose #762 and was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Shawn Lunsford of Flossmoor, IL, James R. Lunsford, III of Arizona; three sisters, Charlotte Tindle of Portsmouth, Joan Burchett of Portsmouth, and Phyllis Craft of Lamper, MI, and one grandson son, Jeffrey Shawn Lunsford of Portsmouth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Carol (Faulkner) Lunsford; his step father, Willard Craft, and a sister, Donna Bowen.
