A beautiful lady passed our way and now is at rest.
Ruby Jean Allen, 90, of Minford area, died August 9, 2015. The only child of the late Landon Lawson and Icy Lou Meadows Ball, she was born September 12, 1924, in Portsmouth, Ohio. A graduate of Wheelersburg High School in 1942 and Ohio University in 1967, she worked as a secretary for the Selby Shoe Factory, as a homemaker, and then as a reading teacher for 27 years at Stockdale Elementary School. Her school co-workers were a very important part of her life. On December 26, 1942, she married Edgar Aaron Allen in Greenup, Kentucky. Edgar preceded her in death on September 22, 2012. Jean is survived by four children: sons, Greg (Jennifer) Allen and Dane (B'Jo) Allen and daughters, Brenda (Tom) Kallner and Elaine (Donnie) Blevins. Edgar and Jean had eight grandchildren: Ashlea (Gerald) Green, Leslie Allen (deceased in infancy), Zac (Ann Marie) Allen, Lance (Tiffany) Allen, Aaron (Jodi) Kallner, Natalie (Mike) Limrick, Eric (Stephanie) Miller and Alicia (Chris) Newman. Also surviving are twelve great grandchildren: Zeb and Junie Allen, Lucas and Leo Allen, Abbie, Ellie and Grant Kallner, Ewan Limrick, Zane and Cali Miller, and Ian and Alexis Newman. Our family wishes to thank the Minford Retirement Center nurses and nurse aides as well as the SOMC Hospice staff who lovingly provided care and compassion. Thank you to Jean's church family at the Sunshine Church of Christ for their prayers for and support of our family.
Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, Tuesday, August 11, 2015, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Private family services will be held with Steve Miller, Minister officiating.
