On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, Jerry Vernon Steinhauer left us from the Plant Earth moving toward his new home in Heaven. He is survived by his wife, Shawna Renee Steinhauer; one son, Seth Steinhauer; one daughter, Stephanie Moss; three grandchildren, Skylar Steinhauer, Kal-El (Zander) and Chloe Moss. His siblings include his sister, Betty Stone and her husband, Junior, his sister, Bonnie York, his brother, Roger York and his wife Amy and his brother, Robert York and his wife, Erin. His extended family includes three stepsons, Anthony, Jared and Caleb Smith, a daughter-in-law, Melissa Steinhauer, a son-in-law, Zachary Moss and mother-in-law, Getta Louise Bennett King. His family also included many nieces, nephews, and special friends that he knew all his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Leona York and father, Harry Vernon York; his other departed family members include his brother, Gary York and daughter, Courtney Steinhauer in infancy. Jerry was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on February 12, 1961. He was an avid worker throughout his life doing jobs from Roto-Rooter to being supervisor for 23 years at the Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority (PMHA), to which he retired on March 1, 2016. His favorite pastime activities included traveling, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Many people knew Jerry as a person who never took no for an answer, he did what he could and we are forever grateful for what he could do for his family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with John Howard and George Lore officiating. Burial will be a Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
