Joseph Russell Stevens, 84, of Stockdale, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at his residence. Born October 4, 1931 in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Henry C. and Maggie Slusher Stevens, he was a machinist and had work at Parker Hannifin in Waverly and was a custodian for East School in Waverly. He is survived by his wife, Verna Collins Stevens; two sons, Jeff (Denease) Stevens of Minford, Jim (Mary) Stevens of Stockdale; one daughter, Regina (Scott) Lewis of Minford; eight grandchildren, Gloria, Keri, Jimmy, Tim, Kevin, Jason, Josh and Justin; 15 great grandchildren; three brothers, William Stevens of Springfield, Henry Stevens, Jr. of Wheelersburg, Clyde Stevens of Peebles; one sister, Judy Wilson of Springfield; a brother & sister-in-law, Henry and Jeanetta Collins of Minford, and a brother-in-law, Joe Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dorsey Stevens and Don Stevens, and three sisters, Lillian Toppins, Opal Short and Linda Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Donnie Brown officiating. Burial will be at Beaver Union Cemetery in Beaver. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
