Obituary

Lela Bailey, 95, of Clarktown, died peacefully at SOMC Hospice on Wednesday, February 10, 2016; and passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Born January 4, 1921 in Salyersville, KY, a daughter of the late Kendall and Frances Reed, she worked for a few years at Williams Manufacturing Company, but she mostly enjoyed being a housewife and caring for her husband, children, and her home. She loved watching the children and grandchildren participate in sports, loved the Cincinnati Reds, and in later years, the Ohio State Football team. She was a member of Rubyville Community Church, and she loved her church family. She is survived by a son, Joseph David (Debby) Bailey of Clarktown; a daughter, Charlotte Elaine Litten of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Rob (Angie) Litten, Josh (Korina) Bailey, Kayla Bailey; seven great grandchildren, Lauren (Jeremy) Harris, Stephanie (Josh) Vocke, Levi Osborne, Noah Osborne, Jude Sterling Bailey, Phebe Osborne, and four great great grandchildren, Allison Beth Harris, Dylan, Kami and J.J. Vocke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Sterling Bailey on February 15, 1992 after 49 years of marriage, she married Sterling on September 26, 1942; a son, Bobby Ervin Bailey; two brothers, Charlie Bruce Reed, Ray Reed, and four sisters, Lona (John) Meyers, Alta (Elzie) Tackett, Nettie (Edgar) Holliday, and Alva May. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2016 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans and Pastor Brian Baer officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour to the service on Monday.
