Mary Elizabeth Strickland, 94, of Minford, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Born April 22, 1924 in Scioto County, a daughter of the late Nelson Stidham and Sadie Marie Waddell Veach, she was a real estate broker, farmer, homemaker and store owner. She was a member of the Lucasville Order of the Eastern Star and a U.S. Navy veteran. She is survived by four sons, David Phillip Strickland, Lowell Jackson (Mary) Strickland, Jr., John Wesley (Angie) Strickland, Jesse Nelson (Pam) Strickland; three daughters, Margaret Marie (Mike) Yeagle, Susan Elizabeth (Bradley) Sommer, Sara Ann (Greg) Blume; fourteen grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Jean Perry, and two brothers, Charlie Veach and Jesse Veach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Jackson Strickland on March 18, 2007; one brother, Larry Veach, and two sisters, Clarice Justice and Katherine Cotcamp.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott with Pastor Bob Alexander officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363.
