Melody Kay Adkins, 56, of Portsmouth passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at SOMC. Born December 28, 1962 in Adams County, a daughter of Betty Hodge Tackett and the late Ed Laxton, she was a homemaker, loved to garden, decorate and was of the Christian faith. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Scott Adkins; two sons, Jeremy Slusher, Evan Adkins; two daughters, Misty Kay Slusher, Amya Eley; four grandchildren, Chase, Braxton, Jude and Ella; five brothers, Frankie Laxton, Virgil Laxton, Wayne Laxton, Norman Tackett, Jr., Greg Tackett, and one sister, Bonnie Noel. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Norman Tackett, Sr. and one brother, Danny Laxton. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans and Pastor Brian Baer officiating. Burial will be at Moore's Chapel in Blue Creek. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
