Phyllis Ann (Parker) Swords, 78, of New Boston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at River Run in Franklin Furnace. She was born March 16, 1948, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late, David and Charlotte (Blevins) Parker. Phyllis attended Manchester High School, was a homemaker and helped at her family's Dairy Farm and Lumber Co. She was a member of the Wings of Healing Apostolic Church in West Portsmouth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, her beloved husband of 47 years, Oscar E. “Buddy” Swords, Jr.; granddaughter, Marisa Reeder, and two sisters, Connie Sue Parker and Kathy Parker-Briggs.
Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Christopher Swords and Kimberly (Matt) Reeder; four grandchildren, Cody Swords, Miranda (Michael) Takach, Cheyenne (Leroy) Craft, Macayla (Mark) Nice, and Stacey Murphy; a special granddaugther-in-law, Stacy Murphy; her great-grandchildren, Landon Manning, Haleigh, Peighton, Harleigh, Evie and Raife Swords, Micah and Haddie Takach, Hadley Craft, and Kyleigh Murphy; two brothers, Kenneth (Leah) Parker and Rick (Tammy) Parker, and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She loved to read, travel and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her journey on this earth was marked by the loved she gave and received. Those who survive her will continue to honor her legacy by embodying the values she held so dearly-compassion, resilience, and unconditional love.
Phyllis will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
