Richard Lynn McClurg, 70, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 13, 2026, at SOMC Hospice. He was born on February 18, 1956, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Paul Wilbur and Ruth Elaine (Williams) McClurg. Richard lived a life marked by dedication, care, and strong community ties. He spent much of his professional life driving trucks for Conley Trucking, a role he embraced with responsibility and pride. Beyond his vocation, he was a committed member of the Rubyville Community Church, where his faith provided a foundation that supported him throughout his life.
Richard's presence will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Deborah (Conklin) McClurg, who shared in his journey and stood by his side through every chapter. Together, they raised a family rich in love and laughter, two daughters, Rachel Lynn (Brett) Yuenger, Sarah Marie (Ron) Cook; his son, David Wesley (Rebecca) McClurg. Richard was a proud grandfather to eighteen grandchildren: Elizabeth Nicole, Benjamin Avery, Joshua Andrew, Leah Joy, Daniel Timothy, David Levi, Lydia Carin, Abigail Rose, Samuel Everett, Zechariah Kelly, Zipporah Hope, and Rueben Dale McClurg; Faith Ann Cook (Reagon) Clemens, Charity Ruth Cook, Hope Christina Cook; and Bryson David, Braydon Luke Yuenger, and Elias. Each grandchild was a cherished source of joy and pride in Richard’s life. He also leaves behind his sister, Kathy Galford, as well as his sister-in-law, Nancy McClurg, and many treasured nieces and nephews who held dear their uncle’s humor, wisdom, and generosity.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Paul David McClurg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Brian Baer and Mike Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
