Obituary

Richard Loren Ramey, 67 , of Franklin Furnace, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at his residence. He was born October 29, 1957 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Robert Loren and Mary Frances (Tosi) Ramey.

Richard was a retired truck driver and diesel mechanic of 47 years of service. He also had a wrecker service business. He entered into the military as a Marine for a short period of his life.

Richard was a graduate of Wheelersburg High School where he played the trombone in the amazing big band of Wheelersburg.

Richard is survived by his four children, Richard "Anthony", Robert "Bob", Crista Dawn, and Shannon. He has several grandchildren. He is also survived by two younger brothers, Joseph "Joe" (Lori Ann) Ramey and Mark (Brenda) Ramey, and several nephews, nieces and great nephews and great nieces.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Loren and Mary Frances Ramey, and his sister, Cheryl Anne Ramey.

Richard was an avid animal lover. He started out in his life being in 4-H with the Horse Club. He has several dogs he had loved and taken care of, and he loved his brother Joe's dogs, he always called them "his babies". He wanted Joe to saddle up his horses because he wanted to ride one last time. He would tell others all about Mark's cattle that he loved also.

The Ramey family has many funny stories about Richard just being Richard. These precious memories will last them a lifetime of many laughs. Richard will be missed by those who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Edgewood Abbey Mausoleum @ Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
