Obituary

Roger Lee Blackburn, 82, of Minford, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, July 10, 2026 at SOMC Hospice. He was born to the late Frinnie and Cynthia (Hurst) Blackburn on September 12, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. Roger began working at a young age for his father at Blackburn’s Market in New Boston. Roger had a passion to be a successful businessman and on March 9, 1984 he purchased Muletown Mini Mart alongside his loving wife of 63 years, Loretta (Hall) Blackburn. Along with his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Blackburn.

Roger is survived by his wife, Loretta Blackburn; two daughters, Cindy Blackburn, Crystal (Mark) Stiltner; three grandchildren, Amber (Brandon) Pate, David (Autumn) Dowdy, Megan Large; six great grandchildren, Easton Large, Natalee Pate, Sam Pate, Piper Dowdy, Annie Dowdy, Calvin Dowdy; his brother, Wayne Blackburn; a special nephew, Nathan Blackburn; a special cousin, Dianne (Hurst) Osbourne, and a special brother-in-law, Larry Oppy.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at SOMC Hospice Center and The Courtyard at Wheelersburg for all the love shown to our family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Roger’s memory to SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.

Funeral services will be conducted at Noon Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Rubyville Community Church with Pastors Calvin Ray Evans, Brian Baer and his grandson, David Dowdy officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolence may be sent to www.edafh.com.
