Obituary

In the 88 years that Shirley lived, she was many things to many people.  She was a daughter, sister, veteran's wife, beloved mother, caring grandma, cousin, aunt, and a friend.  Shirley was a welder, seamstress, avid reader, an observer, life advisor, strong, independent, stubborn, loving, sarcastic, giving, sports enthusiast, owl lover, best rock candy and monkey bread maker with a smile and laugh that lit up any room.  She was born in Scioto County, Ohio to the late Joseph and Nannie (Ravencraft) Harris of Clarktown on April 19th, 1936.  She grew up with her four brothers, the late Ronnie and surviving Diane Harris of Lucasville, the late Eugene Harris of Clarktown, surviving Charlie and Emilie Harris of Lucasville, surviving Wayne and Phyllis Harris of Minford, and two sisters, the late Nancy and Talmadge Buckle of Minford, surviving Deenie and Don Compton of Clarktown and surviving special cousin Rowena Rickey Souder of Rubyville whom they all grew up with nearly every Sunday having family dinners, swapping which house hosted.  Shirley married her first husband, Jack Maple of Fisher, IL, and had her four children, Carol Jensen of New Boston, Nannette Maple of New Boston, OH, Darryl and Paige Maple of Thomasboro, IL, Joe and Theresa Maple of Eagle River, AK, whom gave her six grandchildren, Max Jensen of Denver, CO, Courtney and Josh Higgins of Lucasville, Caylin Jensen and Allen Ricca of Litchfield, CT, Shelby and Joey Costello of Denver, CO, Matthew Maple of Eagle River, AK, Katie Maple of Eagle River, AK, four great-grandchildren, Jackson Monroe Higgins of Lucasville, Kameryn and Bryan Richmond of Wheelersburg, Skylar Higgins of Lucasville, and Luke Maple of Eagle River, AK, one great-great-grandson Zaedyn Richmond of Wheelersburg, and many nieces and nephews.  Shirley was also preceded in death by her second husband Lyle "Jim" Fink of Fisher, IL, and dear friend Bobby Lovell of Eva, AL.  Shirley left us for heaven on June 22nd, 2024, with family in Lucasville, leaving behind a Legacy of Love with her children and grandchildren.  The family would like to sincerely thank the caregivers and in lieu of flowers, please consider choosing one of the organizations listed below.

Celebration of life will be conducted at a later date.
