Roy A. Young, Sr., 81, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus, Indiana. Born December 5, 1934 in Ruggels, Kentucky, Mr. Young was the son of Bruce Delbert and Gladys Jordan Young. He married Minnie Perkins on July 3, 1954 in Greenup, Kentucky; she survives. Mr. Young worked as general manager for Rock-Tenn in Columbus for 40 years retiring in 2003. He was a member of First Christian Church in North Vernon. Mr. Young enjoyed marbles, toys and cars. Survivors include his wife, Minnie Young of North Vernon, Indiana; sons, Troy (Jody) Young of Fayette City, Pennsylvania; Roy Young, Jr. of North Vernon and Mark Shockley of Hope, Indiana; daughters, Carol Caruso of Hanover, Indiana; Teresa (David) Shirley of Evansville, Indiana and Shirley (Raymond) Brisker of Wilton, Iowa; brothers, Albert (Marie) Young of Phoenix, Arizona and Art Young of Ohio; sisters, Hazel Cordle of Cleveland, Ohio, Ruth Haines of Indianapolis, Indiana, Carol Ann Slone and Donna Jean (Web) Conley both of Portsmouth, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Roberta Young; brother, Earl Young and sister, Marie Horvath.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana with Rev. Tony Garris officiating. Family and Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
A Funeral Service will also be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home, 6710 Swauger Valley Road, Minford, Ohio; Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service. Burial will be in the Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, Ohio.
