Obituary

George "Ray" Carter, Sr. passed away to be with his Creator on Sunday, June 14, 2015. He was born December 11, 1939 to George Jay and Elsie Mae Smith Carter, who preceded him in death, along with a brother Henry Vernon "Hank" Carter. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Lois Hay Carter; two sisters, Rosa Fay Ross and Mae Sherrick; a son and daughter-in-law, George Jr. and Teresa Carter; two daughters, Joyce Carter and Linda Gillespie; seven grandchildren: Brian and Ashley Donnelly, Brittany and Briana Carter, Brendan, Ryan, and Claire Gillespie. He was also a Great Grandfather to a baby not yet born. He is also survived by a sister-in-law and two brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews, in addition to many friends and loved ones. Ray was a former Pastor and a retired employee from General Electric. He is a U.S. Army Veteran severing two terms from June 1957 to October 1960 and from November 1961 to August 1962. He will be honored with military graveside rites. All who knew him and had the honor of loving him will greatly miss his presence. He was a true inspiration and shared his deep faith of God with all. He will never be forgotten and his memories will never fade. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Rubyville Community Church with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans officiating. Burial will be at Rubyville Community Church Cemetery. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, Ohio from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church with a reception following the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion and William A. Baker Post No. 363. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
