Stanley “Stan” Curtis Spence, 78, of Minford, peacefully entered his eternal home on Friday, July 31, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 19, 1947 at home in Lucasville, a son of the late Stanley “Pistol” and Ruth A. (Pugh) Spence. On May 3, 1991, he married his soulmate and the love of his life, Illene “Gail” Spence, with whom he shared 35 beautiful years of marriage and built a legacy of unconditional love.
Above all else, Stan was a family man. His wife, children and grandchildren were the center of his universe. He led his home with gentle strength, patience and a sense of humor that brought joy to every family gathering.
A deeply devoted Christian, Stan walked daily in the footsteps of Christ, his faith was not just something he spoke about, it was the guiding light of his life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tammy Cantini, Thomas “Tom” (Dorene/Enos) Spence, Bill Spence, Dean Spence; his step-son, Jeremy (Jennifer) Conkel; his step-daughters, April (Rob) McClellan, Kim Nickel; his grandchildren, Austin “Squirt” Spence, Maxwell Spence, Savannah Ison, Camron Whittredge, Dylan “Pistol” Spence, Jeremy Spence, Melody Spence, Chase Conkel, Alexis “Lexi” Conkel, Andrew “Scooter” Conkel, December Jones, Shawn Dougherty, Nikki Foltz; many great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry W. Spence, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jeremy Spence, Tracy Spence; three brothers, Larry, Robert “Bob”, Doug Spence, and one sister, Caroline Alley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Burial will be at Luckett-Keller Cemetery in Lucasville. Visitation will be at the funeral home from Noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home or Spot Fund to help assist with funeral costs.
