Obituary

Sue Ann Schwamberger Nunley, age 82 of Wheelersburg, Ohio passed away peacefully on at SOMC Hospice Center. Born March 16, 1944 to the late Frank and Dorothea (Coe) Schwamberger of Wheelersburg. Sue graduated from Notre Dame High School in the Class of 1962 and was a member of St. John Paul II Scioto Catholic Parish. She worked at Security Central Bank, Bank One, and retired from 5/3 Bank after 35 years of service. In her retirement she cherished spending time with her family and helping with caring for her grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death in 2017 by her husband of 54 years, Robert (Bob) Nunley and her brother, Robert (Bob) Schwamberger. She is survived by her daughters Paige and Dr. Sherwin Miller of Summersville, WV and Julie and Gary Hiles of Wheelersburg, OH, her three grandchildren Ty (Kamryn) Hiles of Canal Winchester, OH, Sherwin Miller Jr. of Summersville, WV, Alyssa Hiles of Wheelersburg, OH and her great- granddaughter Eliza Hiles of Canal Winchester, OH. She is also survived by two brothers, Sam Schwamberger, Bill (Walta) Schwamberger, sister-in-law, Kaye Schwamberger, sister and brother in-laws, Marta Rolfe, Fred (Nancy) Nunley, Jim (Cindy) Nunley, Sharma Storey, Iva Barnett, Sandy Nunley and several nieces and nephews that were all special to her.

She was the kind of woman who made the world feel a little smaller and a lot warmer. The kind who truly never met a stranger—only friends she hadn’t yet gotten to know. Her smile was an open door, her laughter a comfort, and her presence a reminder that kindness still lives in everyday moments. Above all else, her heart belonged to her family. Her children were her greatest accomplishment, her grandchildren her pride, and her great-granddaughter her shining light. She poured love into her family in ways both big and small: in her words of encouragement, her unwavering support, her quiet sacrifices, and the countless memories she helped create. Her love was steady, strong, and unconditional—a foundation her family will carry with them always.

Though her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, her spirit lives on in the lives she touched, the kindness she gave, and the family she cherished so deeply. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and connection—a reminder to all who knew her to greet others with warmth, to lend a helping hand, and to hold family close. She will be dearly missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to SOMC Hospice whose compassion, dignity, and gentle care brought comfort in life's final chapter. A special thank you to her outpatient team, Robin, Julie & Toni.
