Violet Ruth Miller, approximately eighty years ago, a young girl loved singing and music so much, she chose to face cold weather, dark roads, and scary dogs, to walk a long distance to church for the warmth and comfort that church provided with its music and love. That brave little girl's courage changed the course of her life and that of her family forever. On December 11, 2017, that young girl, now an old woman, took her final walk past all things scary on this earth to be with her Lord. She died peacefully, attended by her family, greatly looking forward to seeing her beloved husband, Bob Miller, and their oldest son, Steven, who preceded her in death. She and her husband, Bob, raised four children who were not always thrilled about having to go to church when they were small, but who all grew to honor their parents for teaching them to love the Lord. Her four children, Steven (Serena) Miller of Minford, Ohio, Brian (Valerie) Miller, of Rhome, Texas, Loren (Debbie) Miller of Miramar Beach, Florida and Rebecca Miller, of Minford, Ohio gave her eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Sunshine Church of Christ in Minford, Ohio. She was a woman of many talents. She had a beautiful voice and sang at every opportunity. She loved to sew, and her children and grandchildren are the grateful recipients of dozens of beautiful quilts she made. In her latter life, she took great joy in sewing little outfits for orphans in Haiti. Because of Ruth's passion for sewing and helping the children of Haiti, the family is requesting that instead of sending flowers, donations could be made to Hope for Haiti's Children so they can buy more sewing machines to teach their kids how to sew. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Dr. Jon Partlow officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
