Vivian Bonzo Woodworth, 94, died on August 13, 2026, in Little Rock, Arkansas after a lengthy illness.
Born December 26, 1931, in Minford, Ohio, to Lyle and Mildred Bonzo, she lived in Harding Place Retirement Living in Searcy, Arkansas, since 2012 with her son, Duke. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2025.
A woman graced with many artistic talents, Vivian was a doer who enjoyed creating beautiful things. Among her passions were knitting, sewing, painting and repairing old, well-worn antiques and turning them into heirloom pieces. She loved to sing; her beautiful alto voice was distinctive and admired by those who attended the Sunshine Church of Christ in Minford, where she was a member for more than 70 years.
After graduating from Minford High School in 1949, she received her hairdresser license from Portsmouth (Ohio) Beauty School and worked at several salons before opening Vivian’s Beauty Shop at her home on Route 335 in the mid-1960s. It served as a gathering place for many of the women from the surrounding area. Laughter and conversation filled the air of the shop until it closed in the early 1990s.
On April 4, 1952, she married the love of her life, Harry Woodworth, immediately following his return from the front lines of Korea. Except for a brief time in Kansas and two years in Dayton, Ohio, they lived their entire 52 years of marriage in Scioto County, Ohio. Duke, born in 1957, was a special needs child who required full-time care throughout his life. In 1962, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Renee.
In addition to her husband Harry, who died in 2004, and son Duke, she was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Phyllis Bonzo Stevens and Sharon Bonzo Hardin.
Survivors include daughter Renee Woodworth Bissell (Ken) of Searcy, Arkansas; sister Serena Bonzo Miller (Carlos Valcarcel) of Minford, Ohio; grandchildren Olivia Bissell Stafford (Thomas) and Aaron Bissell (Rachael) of Memphis, and Zachary Bissell (Sara) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; great grandchildren Jack and Lora Stafford, Thompson, Amelia and Lainey Bissell, and Ruby Cate Bissell; and a number of nephews and nieces, whom she loved dearly.
The family is grateful for the wonderful care provided through the years by Randy and Sandy Reynolds and the staff at Harding Place Retirement Living, and LifeTouch Health Caregiving and Hospice Care.
Vivian’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, August 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Sunshine Church of Christ in Minford. The family requests because of travel, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Harding Place Retirement Living, 801 Benton Avenue, Searcy, Arkansas 72143. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford.
