Wayne Edgar Sexton, 76, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Best Care Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born on October 26, 1949, in Greenup County, Kentucky, a son of the late Paul Edgar and Eva Marie (Swords) Sexton. He was a Sub Station Supervisor for AEP, and was of the Baptist faith. Wayne was a man whose life was marked by dedication—to his family, his career, and his faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Ann (Smith) Sexton, whom he married on January 20, 1968.
Wayne is survived by a loving family who cherished him dearly, his son, Anthony Wayne Sexton, and his daughter, Tawnya (Mike) Ingram, carry forward his legacy. His joy extended to five grandchildren: Lesleigh (Jeff) Burchett, Emily Ann (John) Bowen, Derrick (Tori) Brown, Connor Sexton, and Carly Sexton. The family circle grows even larger with three treasured great-grandchildren: Landon, Addillin, and Myles. Wayne’s brother, Marvin (Teresa) Sexton, along with niece Courtney (Jeff) Slater, nephew Josh (Brandon) Sexton, and great-niece Nora Slater, also survive him, each holding dear the memories they shared.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Mike Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
