Betty Lou McCoy-Bower

Betty Lou McCoy-Bower, 91, of Minford, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at River Run Healthcare in Portsmouth. She was born January 12, 1933 in Minford, a daughter of the late Denny Hayes and Beulah (Dabney) McCoy, she was a graduate of Ohio University, was a primary school teacher for 32 years for Minford Local Schools. After her retirement, she spent 2 years as a short term missionary for Evangelical Christian Academy in Madrid, Spain. Betty was a local tutor for many years, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she served as organist.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Gullett, Marjie Hannah; five grandchildren, Jennifer Bower Reed, David Gullett, Nick Gullett, Adam Gullett, Josh Strickland; seven great grandchildren, Kendall Strickland, MacKenzie Strickland, Chance Gullett, Abigail Gullett, Emma Gullett, Damon Strickland, Willow Rose, and three step great-grandchildren, Logan Engle, Riker Engle, and Garet Engle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, David H. Bower on November 11, 1995; one son, David Randall (Randy) Bower; a grandson, Chris Strickland; two sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2024 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Rob McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
