Charles Day Obituary

Charles Victor Day, 92, was received into the Kingdom of his Heavenly Father on the early afternoon of November 28, 2021.

Charles was born on June 17th, 1929, in Portsmouth, Ohio.  He was the third eldest of nine children born to the late Lon and Martha Day.  Charles was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Anna in January of 2016.  Charles was also predeceased by sisters, Dixie Briggs and Doris Thompson, and his brothers Gene, Harold and Johnny Day.

Charles’s life and the life he shared with Anna was built on a solid foundation of loving and serving their Lord when the two of them met at a church service when he was just 19. Charles and Anna were united in marriage on March 26th, 1949, in Greenup, Kentucky.  On September 8th, 1950, they welcomed their only child and pride and joy, Gloria Ann (David) Adams.  Charles was the proud grandfather of Lisa Renee (Roger) Holbrook of Lucasville and Julie Ann (Robert) Violette of Chillicothe.  Charles was also the proud great-grandfather of Karson Ryder DeCamp, of Chillicothe, Ohio.  Charles is also survived by one sister, Elva Thompson of Portsmouth, Ohio and one brother, Howard Day of Lexington, Kentucky.

Charles was a gifted musician who loved to play the guitar and sing for his church alongside Anna.  Charles was a member of the Apostolic Gospel Church, Pentecostals of Portsmouth.  Charles always enjoyed his church and church family while ministering to the community alongside Anna, in whatever way the Lord asked of them.  Charles also worked in various retail outlets throughout his life and retired from Wolf Clothing in 2007. Charles was an expert in men’s clothing and was known throughout the community for his expertise.  He was also an avid sports fan and loved the Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford.  Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
