Geneva Faye Miller, 91, of Portsmouth, Ohio went to be with her Lord Saturday, January 10, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Bristolville, Ohio, where she has resided for the past three years. She was born August 4, 1923, in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer; her parents, Alfred and Delia Lavender; one sister, Betty Shock; and three brothers, Jim, Dan, and Jerry. Geneva was a gentle-spirited, quiet woman whose Christianity showed through all her gentle ways. She was an active member in the Sunshine Church of Christ where she served as a Bible schoolteacher, a deacon’s wife, and a member of the Sunshine Singers. Geneva will always be remembered for her love of music. She loved to sing, compose songs, and teach piano. Geneva shared her deepest feelings in her book of poetry, a loving tribute to her sweet spirit. Geneva was a wonderful wife to Homer for 69 years and a beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (David) Hinze of Bristolville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Brian Hinze of Kent, Ohio, Jason Hinze of Warren, Ohio, and Aaron (Jessica) Hinze of Ashville, Ohio; and two great-granddaughters, Megan and Emily of Ashville, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, at the Sunshine Church of Christ in Minford, Ohio, with Steve Miller and Jamie Riley officiating. Burial will be at Batterson Cemetery. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, and one hour prior to the service Friday, January 16, at the church.
