Andrew Jackson (Jack) Burchett, 85, of Lucasville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV, from injuries received in a January car accident. Born June 22, 1929, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, he was the fifth of ten children of Tom "Jumper" and Rebecca Burchett, who preceded him in death. Jack was a veteran of the United State Air Force, serving from 1948 to 1953, during which time he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He also owned and operated Jack’s Service Station, located in the same location where he eventually built the family home. In 1992, he retired from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility as a Maintenance Foreman. On December 31, 1953, he was united in marriage to Sylvia A. Chaffins, who preceded him in death on June 22, 2006. In addition to being an Air Force Veteran, he was also an active member of First Baptist Church Beaver, Lucasville Masonic Lodge No 465, and a 32nd degree Mason. Survivors include three children: David (Lois) Burchett and Mark (Evelyn) Burchett, both of Lucasville, and Jackie (Tim) Jayne of Beaver; eight grandchildren, Amanda Mullins of Frankfort, Kentucky; Andrew Burchett, Nathanial Burchett, Elayna Burchett of Lucasville; Gwendolynn Jayne of Ashland, Tennessee; Tim Jayne of Vine Grove, Kentucky; Michael Jayne and Ksenia Jayne of Beaver; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters, Kenneth Ray Burchett, Jenny Burchett Wallace, and Tommy Jean Burchett Richardson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde, Wade, Gayle and Bernard Burchett, and two sisters, Geraldine Burchett Cesco and Blanche Burchett Cox.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Beaver, with Pastor Tim Hines and Pastor Gary Pack officiating. Burial will be in Salisbury Cemetery near Stockdale. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
