Janet Ruth Nance

Janet Ruth Nance, 100, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Buckeye Forest Rosemount Pavilion. She was born July 11, 1924 in Scioto County, a daughter of the late John W. and Anna Mae (Leenuger) Tingler, she was a former employee of Williams Shoe Factory for 29 years, and also had worked at Burger Chef and Druthers.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Shumway; four grandchildren, Greg Shumway, Sherri Lambert, Walter Lee Burchett, Matthew Burchett; nine great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Nance; one daughter, Alice Burchett; one grandson, Jerry Burchett; three sisters, Evelyn, Eloise, Alma, and two brothers Richard and Larry.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
