Kenneth “Ray” Bayes, 79, of Minford, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024 at SOMC Hospice. He was born February 16, 1945 in Minford, a son of the late Carl and Magdalene (Ross) Bayes, was the former Transportation Supervisor of Minford Local Schools, attended Minford Community Church, and was a US Army Vietnam veteran. Ray enjoyed visiting the Smoky Mountains and riding go-karts with his family. He also loved attending his grandkids sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette Diane (Stone) Bayes; two daughters, Melissa (Brett) Gambill, Michele (David) Gullett; four grandchildren, Megan (Kohl) VanHorn, Matthew (Devin) Gullett, Alexis (CJ) Niziol, Skyler (Josh) Wisener; eight great grandchildren, Grayson VanHorn, Dexter VanHorn, Brantley Niziol, Piper Niziol, Blake Niziol, Atlas Wisener, Daxton Miller, Ashlyn Miller, and one sister, Patricia (Les) Skaggs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike Bayes, Bob Bayes, and three sisters, Rachel Smith, Jean Smith, and Jane Sudbrook.
