Lola Mae Wells, 85, of Lucasville, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 at SOMC Hospice. She was born December 24, 1938 in Kentucky, a daughter of the late Grady and Myrtle Newsome Tackett, she was a school teacher for Eastern Local Schools (Stockdale), Minford Local Schools and attended Minford Community Church where she was a member of the Ladies Group. Lola was also a member of Southern Ohio Ford Club, Red Hat Club, Ohio River Valley Model T Club, Ashland Hillbilly Clan, and Masonic Camper Club. She was also a member of Rainbow Lanes Mixed Bowling League.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard M. Wells; two sons, Leroy (Teresa) Wells, Michael (Andrea) Wells; two daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Hardyman, Deborah Wells; daughter-in-law, Pam Wells; nine grandchildren, Joshua Wells, Tishena Wells, Tracy Strickland, Shawn Woodruff, Heather Swords, Stevens Wells, Tara Holmes, Tonya Harman, Denise Burkhardt; 17 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Dean Wells; six brothers, Chester Tackett, Lester Tackett, Amos Tackett, Ellis Tackett, Clarence Tackett, Eddie Tackett in infancy, and one sister, Hester Thompson.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Chris Oiler officiating. Burial will be in Canter-Wells Cemetery in Lucasville on Thursday for family and friends. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
