Mark Thomas Shonkwiler

Mark Thomas Shonkwiler, 58, of Lucasville, died Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his residence.

Born August 7, 1964 in Portsmouth, a son of the late George and Wilma Jane “Wid” (Nance) Shonkwiler, he was a chemical operator for Fluor-BWXT Portsmouth in Piketon.  He was a graduate of Minford High School in the class of 1982 and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Dennis Shonkwiler and another in infancy.

He is survived by a son, Mark Joseph Shonkwiler; a daughter, Kayla Michelle (Zachary) McCoy; two grandchildren; grandson, Anderson Joseph Shonkwiler; granddaughter, Blake Michelle Shonkwiler; four brothers, Michael (Olivia) Robertson, David (Sandy) Shonkwiler, Timothy Shonkwiler, Gregory J. (Pam) Shonkwiler; two sisters, Kimberly Jean (Michael) McRoberts, Lori Ann Conley (Joe) and several nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Jason Messer officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday before the service. Friends and Family are invited to the burial at 11:00 a.m. at Bennett Cemetery on Monday, February 20, 2023, a procession will form at the funeral home immediately prior to the burial.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made at any Atomic Credit Union to the Jared “Hammer” Dever Memorial Fund.
