Martha Potts

Martha Potts passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023, with her loving family and friends by her side.

Martha was the youngest child of Duncan and Ruth Reagin Baxter and grew up with her older brother Dale in Portsmouth Ohio. She received a BA Degree in Education from Ohio University in Athens, OH.  

Martha was a passionate educator who retired from Minford Elementary School in 2003. She enjoyed traveling to Florida with her late husband but spent much of her retirement in Portsmouth where she was a member of the Down by the River Guilt Guild, volunteered at the Red Cross and the Second Presbyterian Church food pantry where she was a Deacon. 

Martha will be remembered by family and friends as a generous, kind and conscientious woman. Her spirit lives on in the memories of the many lives she touched through teaching, volunteering, quilting and being a pillar of strength in her family. 

Martha was preceded in death by her husband Darrell on September 14, 2006. She is survived by her loving family including daughters, Sheri (Phil) and Kimberly, niece, Stephanie, nephew, Kevin (Jenelle), grandchildren, Chris (Laurie), Joshua (Andrea), and McKenzie, sister-in-law, Terry Lynn, and a host of loving great grandchildren, Annie & Ellison and great nieces, Leiah & Haley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Allison Bauer officiating. Burial will be in Lucasville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation.  Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
