Stephen Dale Reed

Stephen Dale Reed, 89, of Rubyville, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at his home surround by his loved ones. He was born December 7, 1936 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Stephen Virgil and Doris Vonie (Ervin) Reed. He was a guidance counselor for Valley Local Schools, New Boston Schools, and a shop teacher at Valley Local Schools. Stephen was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman.  The family will remember him as being stubborn, strong, ornery, witty, extremely supportive and the rock of his family.

He is survived by one son, Timothy (Brenda) Reed; three grandchildren, Jennifer Meyer, Kyle Richard, MacKenna McFarland; one great granddaughter, Paislee Meyer; one brother, William S. Reed, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Ruth Joan (Souders) Reed; 2nd wife, Janice Carolyn Reed; one daughter, Anita Richard, and one brother, Donald F. Reed.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Bob Davis and Ric Allwood officiating. Burial will be at Universal Cemetery in Rubyville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
