Wilma "Butch" Sims-Wright

Wilma “Butch” Sims-Wright, 75 of Portsmouth passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at her residence. Born October 22, 1946 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Norma Ann Nolder Sims, she was a 1964 Minford High School graduate and was a former employee of Big Sandy.  

She went by the nickname Butch, but she was anything but. She was truly an amazing person to know. She loved horses and was part of the 4-H group Bits and Bridles for several years. Butch enjoyed life, she loved spending time with friends and family. Butch had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends anywhere she went. She was the type of person that people were drawn to her. She did not know a stranger

She is survived by one daughter, Michele Tackett; seven grandchildren, Brittani Rider, Justin Tackett, Samantha Ward, Christina Engle, Andrew Colley, Derek Colley, Dalton Wright, and several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Misty McCoy, and two sisters, Edyie Rider and Myrna Stall.      

There will be no service or memorial. Butch wanted everyone to remember her by sharing wonderful memories with each other. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to Sierra’s Haven at 80 Easter Dr. Portsmouth, Oh 45662.
